The Resilience of the Philippines: Strength Amidst Diversity

The Philippines is a tropical country that often experiences extreme natural disasters like floods, typhoons, heavy rains, etc. The Philippines, one of the world's most disaster-prone countries, must put or prioritize resiliency first to protect its infrastructures and people. The country often experiences extreme disasters because of where it is located. One is the warm ocean waters, which power the intensity of storms. Deforestation and pollution are also the cause of disasters.

Concentrating on our responses to those calamities is critical to creating a more resilient country. To enable individuals to make preparations for what will happen in the future, we must first enhance early warning systems. To prepare the residents for the calamities, the community should also hold frequent disaster drills and training sessions. Reducing damage and saving lives can be achieved by strengthening buildings and infrastructures. And to ensure that those affected by the said calamities, will receive prompt assistance and guarantee them that everyone can resume their normal lives as quickly as possibles.

Despite all these efforts. There are still many challenges in building a resilient country. One of those many challenges is the lack of resources in a country like funds to prepare for and respond to disasters. Another is the need for better coordination between the government and Filipinos. Especially to some areas where remote ones are harder to reach and help during calamities or emergencies. Additionally, climate change is making disasters more frequent and intense, making it more difficult to keep up with the on going risks.
